Tips for Preparing the PSBH Project Report

Guidelines for preparing your PSBH project report

Contents of the PSBH project report under various headings should be arranged in the
following sequence (Each section listed below should start on a new page. However,
Rationale, Research Question and Objectives may be included on a single page):

1.    Cover page with title or the project, names of the team members in alphabetical order, batch (i.e., 2012 Batch), name of the department, institution and year of submission of report
2.    Certificate
3.    Contents page
4.    Acknowledgements
5.   Printout of the single-slide Poster
6.      Structured abstract (about 250 words: Introduction, Objectives, Study Design, Locale, Study Volunteers, Ethical Aspects, Interventions, Results, Conclusions) & Keywords (about five)
7.    Introduction
8.    Review of Literature
9.   Rationale
10.  Research Question
11.  Objectives
12.  Materials and Methods
13.  Results
14.  Discussion
15.  Conclusions (not more than one page)
16.  Limitations
17.  Recommendations
18.  References (by adhering to the Vancouver Style)*
19.  Annexure
      a. Timeline Chart
      b. Study Questionnaire (English and Tamil)
      c. Informed Consent Form
      d. Copy of the letter of approval by the Institutional Human Ethics   
          Committee (IHEC)
      e. Educational materials (e.g., copy of charts)
      f. Action photographs, if any

Guidelines for Page and Text Formatting    

Font size:         Title page: 20pt
                                 Major headings in text: 16pt
                                 Sub-headings (italics): 14-15pt
                                 Text: Not more than 13 pt.

Font type:        Times New Roman (preferred, use of fancy fonts not permitted)

Line spacing:   Single (preferred); maximum 1½

          Margins:          1 inch on all sides

          Printing:          Single side printing

          Page numbering: Bottom centre (all pages must be serially numbered)

Guidelines for binding

The report should be spiral-bound with a plastic transparent sheet in the front and back.


Guidelines for submission of the final report

While submitting the final report, students are advised to adhere to the following steps:

i.    All the team members should sign against / above their name in the ‘Acknowledgement’ section
ii.   Get the signature of their guides
iii.  Get the signature of the Professor & Head of the Department
iv.  Hand over one copy of the report to Dr. Sivan


Total number of copies of the report to be made

Number of members in the team plus one.

(i.e., one each for the team members and one for the department). Students are advised to preserve their personal copy safely, and bring this along with Community Medicine practical record on the day of university practical examination.

All students are requested to adhere to the guidelines.
